EBMAS-CT KUNG FU AND MARTIAL ARTS SHOOL is Connecticut’s premier and only representative of the Emin Boztepe Martial Arts System. We offer a comprehensive and unique self-defense training system, based on two of the most effective martial arts styles: Chinese Wing Tzun Kung Fu and Filipino Latosa Escrima. We follow the path that has been paved, via the vast knowledge and real life practioners of the arts, by Dai Sifu Emin Boztepe and Grandmaster Rene Latosa. Our Instructors are nationally certified EBMAS Instructors in both Wing Tzun Kung Fu and Latosa Escrima.
We do not believe in, nor do we hold back a student’s growth, with so called extra cost “Secret Moves”. That is not how a family works. We believe in nurturing our members so that they can grow, while hoping future generations can promote our martial arts to an even higher level. We are committed to provide scientific explanation to student’s inquiries, so that they can understand the actions and reactions in any and all situations. Nothing is “outside of your current Program.” Our system works because with the understanding of the concepts and their applications, of your sweat equity is what will drive your personal growth. We do not teach students a collection of repetitive movements on a systematic approach. Instead we give you the tools to formulate your own responses, when called on. We are focused to teach members, both adults and children alike, how to remove themselves from situations that are unwanted and how to dissolve physically threatening confrontations, effectively and within the shortest amount of time. We committed to teach our young students the realities of Child Bullying and unwanted harassments, in school or in the world outside. As our hopes are that they will never encounter those situations. Our children needs to be able to protect themselves by peaceful means or if need be, by the use of force, as a last resort. We strive to accomplish this feat, while instilling virtues of awareness, self-confidence and respect. We are parents ourselves, so we understand what children may encounter. Force is never always the answer, but at times it is you only choice.
We strive to educate students on the concepts and usages of Wing Tzun and Escrima, as it have been passed down to us, in both a friendly, non-intimidating environment. We welcome everyone that passes through our door, but when you join, you become part of our EBMAS family.
Our classes are open to anyone interested in learning a proven, realistic and scientific system without “Secrets.” Those who are willing to put in the time, effort and training, both in and out of class, will be rewarded greatly with knowledge and confidence, while having the time of your life.
Steven was born in the Bronx, NY and lived in New Rochelle, NY before finally settling in Stamford, Ct where he is the Owner of Biggs Pool Service Inc. A long-time fan of Bruce Lee, Steven studied under Grand Master Yong Man Lee in Darien, Ct, for (12 yrs ) receiving a 1st Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do in 2001 and a 1st Degree Black Belt in Hapkido in 2005.
After expanding his martial arts focus, he was introduced to the art of Wing Chun Kung Fu and studied under Sifu Chung k. Chow for (3.5) years. He later switched to the Leung Ting Wing Tzun system for (4) years where he tested up to 6th Student Grade.
After years of Wing Tzun training, he was still not satisfied; he felt he was missing the dynamics and the reality of Wing Tzun and he also had many questions that went unanswered. He then meet Sifu (George) Boka who introduced him to Dai Sifu Emin Boztepe and GrandMaster Rene Latosa under Emin Boztepe Martial Art System (EBMAS). Steven became Sifu Georgs’s private student and says, “this is where I finally found my home”Steven truly believes EBMAS NYC’s Motto: Train like you fight and fight like you’ve trained. Where Steven has trained Privately with Sifu George and has assisted him in his New York City School for (6yrs)
George was born in Hungary in 1972. At age 10, he underwent intensive training to be a soccer player. This training continued through high school until several unsuccessful street fights compelled him to take up martial arts. After starting with Karate, he moved on to Thai Boxing and then the ancient Indian martial art of Kalarypayat, but still did not find what he was looking for. In 1989, his Sihing, Ferenc Salamon, suggested they both try a different style called Wing Tzun Kung Fu (Leung Ting Wing Tzun) under Sifu Norbert Maday. George became alamon’s “first student” and by 1990, he was already an assistant instructor. The following year, George was drafted into the Hungarian army where he was awarded a pecial permit to teach martial arts to both soldiers and civilians. When mobilized in 1992, he joined the Hungarian Police Special Forces Team - Cserhat Unit, where he also taught Wing Tzun to his fellow officers. While in the Police Special Forces, George was trained by global law enforcement agencies in anti-terrorism techniques, hostage rescue and personal protection, and was selected by officials to compete in regional and international Special Forces competitions. He supported the Hungarian Secret Service in the protection of dignitaries including the Hungarian President and visiting heads of state. During this time, he also worked as a bouncer and bodyguard and he developed significant real-life fighting experience in the several hundred street and bar fights he encountered. In 1997, George came to the US and continued to work in the security field while teaching Wing Tzun to private students. In 2002, he met Sifu Milan Jevic, Grandmaster Rene Latosa and Sifu Emin Boztepe. He joined EBMAS as an assistant instructor of the New York school and has served as leader of EBMAS New York City since 2005. George has instructed members of the New York Police Department and US Marine Corps and conducted Martial Arts seminars for other law enforcement agencies, security firms and private security teams.
Greg was born in Brooklyn, NY. He spent most of his childhood in Haiti and played soccer as a child. When he returned to the US he was introduced to baseball and after years of training was drafted by a professional league, but declined for personal reasons. Greg had always been interested in Martial Arts and found a Wing Tzun school in Manhattan, but after several months of training, he felt that realism was missing in both the training and applications. He then saw Sifu Emin Boztepe performing Wing Tzun on the internet and from that moment, he knew that he had found what he was looking for. He visited one of Dai Si-Hing Georges class and since that his member of EBMAS New York City.
Jonathan was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and is currently a school teacher in Rutherford, NJ. Growing up in Brooklyn exposed him to more than his fair share of fights. While encountering all of these people with their tough guy attitudes, he realized that very few really knew how to fight. Like him, they were all imitating good fighters they have seen and were trying to mimic movements they knew nothing about.
This all changed when he was exposed to Wing Tzun Kung Fu. He began his training in 2002 with Sifu Oleg Polvinchik in Brooklyn. All of a sudden, movements had logical and scientific reasoning behind them. He went through the entire system in a short 3 years. Little did he know, there was so much more to learn. In 2005, he moved to Rockland County, NY which left him in search for another Sifu. Luckily, after training with several different schools and lineages, he met Sifu George Boka.
Sifu George, Dai Sifu Emin Boztepe and the EBMAS family took his skills to the next level. They exposed him to the nuances of each movement and brought further clarity to the system. Their realistic and aggressive style instilled principles which enabled him to become an intelligent and efficient fighter.
Now, he continues his martial arts journey studying Boxing, Jujitsu and Escrima in addition to Wing Tzun. Incorporating these different styles allows him to see the real advantages in Wing Tzun while developing a great respect for the other martial arts. He continually looks to Wing Tzun to give him guidance and discipline to succeed in all aspects of life.
